标题: Postdoc position in Boston College (research R1 University in US)
Boston College is a research R1 university in the US, with the 2020 US News ranking being 37th in the nation. Prof. Lucas Bao welcomes talented and highly self-motivated Ph.D. graduates to join his group as postdoctoral researchers.
Dr. Lucas Bao studied under the world-renowned theoretical chemists Prof. Donald G. Truhlar (a member of the US national academy of Science) for his Ph.D. at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, from 2013 to 2018. In 2018, Dr. Lucas Bao joined Princeton University for a postdoctoral associate position with Prof. Emily A Carter (a member of the US national academy of Science), who is a leading expert in computational materials and catalysis. In 2020, Dr. Lucas Bao joined the department of chemistry at Boston College as a faculty member.
Currently, Prof. Lucas Bao's research interests include:
(1) Develop state-of-the-art kinetics theories (variational transition-state theory, multidimensional tunneling, torsional anharmonicity, etc.) and dynamics methods (AIMD), and apply them to study atmospheric reactions, organometallic catalysis, and heterogeneous catalysis;
(2) Develop advanced electronic-structure techniques to quantitatively analyze the electronic structure of reactive intermediates, excited-state chemistry, and plasmonic materials;
(3) Quantitative kinetics and dynamics in electrocatalysis and photocatalysis.
Dr. Lucas Bao has diverse connections with the world-leading experts in theoretical chemistry and has initiated numerous exciting collaborative opportunities with both computational chemists and experimentalists in the US and around the world. In addition, Boston is not only a fantastic city to live (countless of marvelous restaurants including Chinese and Indian food, movie theaters, entertainment facilities) but also the Boston area is one of the best academic centers in the US, with countless collaborative opportunities with other groups working in different fields at various universities, including Boston College, Boston University, Harvard University, MIT, and many more.
