标题: vibration mode analysis of methanol
大家有做vibration mode 分析的吗？有个小问题，比如methanol，有12个vibration mode, 其中应该有些是stretch mode, 比如C-O, O-H and C-H之间的stretch，导师就问我for each stretch mode, how many symmetries coordinates? 比较困惑，刚刚接触vibration mode，很多地方不太明白，请高人指点啊

更正一下，导师的问题是 which was: there are 5
stretching modes in methanol. Which irreps do they span?

用高斯一算freq就能输出每个振动模式的不可约表示。

其实，关键的是看你怎么选择的basis set，然后用group theory解决问题。basis set的选取取决于所需要研究的问题
