Master and PhD Students in Computational Chemistry

Our computational chemistry group in Seoul invites applications for Master, Integrated PhD (Master+PhD) and PhD positions at the interface of fundamental many-body physics, chemistry, and energy science. The projects address core questions relevant to catalysis and electrochemical energy conversion, combining theory-driven modeling with modern AI techniques.

Two project directions are available:
    • Many-body physics of molecule–metal interactions, including the development of machine-learning interatomic potentials
    • Multi-scale modeling of electrochemical kinetics, with a focus on Bayesian optimization and reaction networks

The research emphasizes fundamental physical principles, advanced numerical methods, and the use of modern AI tools to address cutting-edge problems in applied energy science and chemical engineering. The projects are theorydriven and will be complemented at later stages by validation in close collaboration with our world-leading experimental partners.
  
Qualification requirements
    1. Bachelor (for Master/Integrated position) or Master (for PhD position) in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field.        2. Strong proficiency in Mathematics and Physics.
    3. Emerging programming skills: Python + Fortran or C/C++.
