It is with sadness that I am writing to let you know that our friend and colleague, Bob Parr, has passed away. A memorial has been scheduled at 2 pm on Friday the 31st at the Eno River Unitarian Universalist Fellowship (4907 Garrett Rd, Durham, NC 27707). I will relay further information as I receive it.

Robert Parr是概念密度泛函领域的开山鼻祖，最常用的相关泛函LYP的P正是他，与其学生杨伟涛合著的Density functional theory of atoms and molecules对密度泛函在化学领域的传播和普及有着重大贡献。
